What is CEREC Technology?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is an advanced digital technology we use to design and create same-day crowns. With CEREC, we take 3D images of your tooth and create a custom crown that’s made right in our office. No waiting, no temporary crowns—just a perfect fit, all in one visit.
Should I Get a Same-Day Crown?
If you need a crown, you typically have two options: traditional lab crowns or same-day crowns. Here’s why same-day crowns might be the best choice for you:

Lab Crown
Requires two visits. First, we take impressions and place a temporary crown. The lab then creates the permanent crown, and you return for a second appointment.
Same-Day Crown
If you're dealing with a broken tooth and need a fast solution, same-day crowns are ideal. They save you time, avoid the hassle of temporary crowns, and provide a high-quality restoration in just one visit.

How Same-Day Crowns Work

Step 1: Digital Impressions
We use a digital scanner to capture precise 3D images of your tooth, ensuring an accurate fit without messy impressions.
Step 2: Custom Crown Design
The images are used to design your custom crown with CAD/CAM technology. You can even preview the design before we proceed.
Step 3: Milling the Crown
Once the design is finalized, we use the CEREC machine to mill your crown right here in our office. This process takes about 20 minutes.
Step 4: Placement and Adjustments
After your crown is ready, we’ll carefully place it and make any adjustments needed to ensure it fits comfortably and securely.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does the procedure take?
Most same-day crown appointments take about 2 hours from start to finish. We’ll walk you through every step so you know exactly what to expect.
- Will the crown look natural?
Absolutely! Our crowns are made from high-quality ceramic that mimics the natural colour and texture of your teeth, giving you a seamless and natural-looking restoration.
- How long do same-day crowns last?
With proper care and regular checkups, same-day crowns can last 10-15 years or longer. They’re just as durable as traditional crowns.
- Do same-day crowns hurt?
The procedure is typically pain-free. We numb the area around your tooth, so you’ll be comfortable throughout the process. Afterward, you may experience mild sensitivity, but it usually goes away within a few days.
- Can I eat normally after the procedure?
Once your crown is placed and adjusted, you can eat and drink normally, though we recommend avoiding hard or sticky foods for the first 24 hours to give the crown time to settle.
